Med Reseach Initiative

Med Research Initiative (MRI) is a research organization that specializes in connecting prospective pre-medical students with medical students and physicians in order to be able to obtain and publish research in a collaborative, facilitated, and open ended process.

I originally founded this organization to help and teach pre-medical students to be able to obtain and publish research. My main inspiration behind starting this project was the fact that as a premedical student my application to medical school was a bit lackluster. One of the reasons why is because I lacked research experience and publications.

I wish someone had taken me aside as a pre-medical student and showed me exactly how research is done. Through my experience and connections in medical school, I was able to garner relationships with established physicians and clinics that have been practicing for many decades. I used those connections to obtain Interesting case studies. I then shared these cases with my team of pre medical students in order to teach them how to write and publish case reports.

As my organization grew and I became affiliated with more clinics, I decided to expand and include medical students who, surprisingly, also had little experience with the type of research and case reports that MRI specializes in. In this way, MRI helps mentor premedical and medical students alike. The goal of the organization is to teach individuals to conduct and publish case studies so that they are able to go out into the world and teach others.

At the moment, we are associated with three different clinics: we also have international connections from physicians in Nigeria who are able to provide interesting case presentations for MRI that are otherwise absent in our home country.
